|08:20 pm - Christianity: The Way to Salvation|
Step 1: God created man for a purpose.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."
John 3:16-17 (KJV)
Step 2: We are all sinners punishable by death.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23 (KJV)
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23 (KJV)
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27 (KJV)
The Bible declares that we all sinners who are in need of a Savior. Those who refuse to believe that Jesus is the Messiah will die in their sins.
“I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.” John 8:24 (KJV)
Those who don’t believe and don’t obey Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour will be punished with everlasting destruction.
“When the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels. In flaming fire, taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction.” 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 (KJV)
Those who are unsaved at the time of their death will spend an eternity in hell.
“He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.” John 3:36 (KJV)
Sounds pretty dire, right? I know people don’t like the topic of hell, but I’m not allowed to sugarcoat or cover up the gospel. There is a literal heaven and there is a literal hell. However the good news is that there is a way to salvation, and salvation is a free gift for anyone who chooses it.
Step 3: Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation. There is no other way to get into heaven other than through Him.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” John 14:6 (KJV)
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12 (KJV)
Jesus paid the ultimate price for our sins when he died on the cross for us. Jesus finished his work on the cross for us.
“So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, ‘It is finished!’ And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.” John 19:30 (NKJV)
Salvation cannot be achieved through good works. No amount of good work can cover up the fact that we are all sinners. That is why God had to send Jesus to take the punishment of our sins.
“But God commandeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 (KJV)
God paved the way to salvation for everyone through the precious blood of His son Jesus Christ.
“Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” Romans 5:9 (KJV)
Salvation is a free gift that can only be received. It cannot be earned.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)
Jesus made a once-for-all sacrifice. His blood is precious enough to cover all our sins.
“And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.” Hebrews 9:15
Step 4: In order to receive God’s free gift of salvation, we must individually accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.
John 3:7 is probably one of the most important verses of the Bible. This is the one crucial step that so many Christians and churches overlook. You must be “born again” in order to be saved. No amount of church attendance or good works can get you into heaven.
“Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” John 3:7 (KJV)
Baptism alone does not save you because it is an external act. This applies to anyone who has ever been baptized as an infant, child, or adult. You have to make a personal act of inviting Jesus into your heart as your Lord and Saviour. Then you will receive the Holy Spirit and be saved.
“Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” John 3:5 (KJV)
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:9-13 (KJV)
Now that you’re still alive, you can make the decision to accept Jesus Christ right now. You must confess out loud and believe with all your heart. Please do not wait until it’s too late.
Prayer of Invitation
Please pray the following prayer to be saved right now:
“Dear Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven,
I believe you came to earth and died on the Cross for my sins. I believe you rose again on the 3rd day and went back to Heaven. I personally accept you Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. I confess all my sins to you. Please forgive me of all my sins. Clean my heart, white as snow. Come live in my heart. Make me a child of the King, a new creature in Christ. In your precious name I ask this, and thank you for saving me. Amen.”
If you have just prayed the Prayer of Invitation, then congratulations! You are now a born-again Christian saved by your Lord Jesus Christ.
God promised that He will resurrect those who believed in His Son.
“And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.” John 6:40 (KJV)
Step 5: Once you have received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you must continue to grow in Christ.
Grow in Christ by doing the following:
1.)Get to know the Lord through prayer.
2.)Read the Bible daily. Get the King James Version Bible.
3.)Obey the Lord.
“If ye love me, keep my commandments.” John 14:15 (KJV)
“I [Jesus] tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” Luke 13:3 (KJV)
“For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.” Hebrews 10:26 (KJV)
4.)Join a local church or fellowship that is centered on Christ.
5.)Witness to others when you are spiritually ready.
